FAQ

Question:
Can you explain me differences between Indie and BIG STUDIO licence?
Answer:
If your company makes more than 200.000$/year you are obligated to use BIG STUDIOS licence. However, if you make game with indie licence and you earn more than 200.000$ with that or any other game in current year, you are obligated to pay BIG STUDIOS licence only for NEXT game you make with our models. So, if you want to use same models in new game and your company makes more than 200.000$/year you will need to repurchase them but this time with BIG STUDIOS licence, but, again, only for a new game.

Question:
What restrictions are there on my usage of your model packs?
Answer:
When you are publishing, selling, or otherwise distributing your final product you cannot distribute the purchased models in a file format that is usable by any 3d application. The purchased model has to be incorporated into your final product in a manner that the end user of it cannot access the purchased model itself. For example, you should publish your final product in a proprietary, native file format so that the users of your final product cannot access the model by itself. You must not distribute with your final product a folder (e.g. a .zip file) that includes the purchased models by themselves. Models must be part of some EXE or DLL file or any other format which can not be opened by any 3D application or any game editor.

Question:
I want to purchase your models to make MOD for my favorite game. What are restrictions?
Answer:
You can use our models to make MODs only for your internal usage. It is not allowed to make MOD and share it public with other members of game community. If you can find a way that models are in protected form and no-one can open them then it is fine to share them (exe or dll format).

Question:
Do I have to pay royalties to the 3DModels-Textures of a model every time my final product, which includes the 3DModels-Textures model, is distributed?
Answer:
No. All royalties are paid at time of purchase. After making the initial royalty payment, you obtain the perpetual usage rights for the model royalty free. However, your purchase is bound by the other restrictions for model usage and does not include the right to transfer the ownership of the model to someone else, resell the model, or publish it in any file format that is usable by a 3d application. Please see the other answers in this FAQ for more details on the permitted usage of purchased models.

Question:
Can I buy a model from 3DModels-Textures, then use it to render out imagery for use anywhere within a book, poster, t-shirt or other item for sale commercially?
Answer:
Yes. The rendered image in these cases does not constitute redistribution of the asset in a proscribed manner. Public display and performance rights are standard to the default license agreement between vendor and rights purchasers.

Question:
I want to buy a model from the 3DModels-Textures library and convert it into a physical 3D object for sale elsewhere. Is this legal?
Answer:
Yes, this use is allowed under the standard license.

Question:
Once I buy a model from 3DModels-Textures, may I change it for my use?
Answer:
Yes, you can, as long as the modified asset is used within the scope of the license agreement. The only exception here is that simply because you've purchased the model and changed it around (by applying textures, adding details to it, etc.), this does not grant you the right to re-distribute and sell that model as your own. You may use the purchased model as a template for your own, new model. For example: You want to include an character in a video game that you are developing. You may purchase that character and build your own versions using the purchased as a template.

Question:
If I buy a model to use as a template (a reference to guide the placement of my polygons and curves) for another model I'm going to build from scratch, how can I use the new model? Can I sell the new model I make on 3DModels-Textures?
Answer:
Using models purchased or downloaded from 3DModels-Textures as templates for new models is very common. You are welcome to do this and can use the new model that you made, or derived, from a model on 3DModels-Textures in all of the normal ways you can use the purchased model. You will not, however, be able to resell the new model. By using the first model as a template for the creation of a new model, the new model automatically is a derivative of the purchased model. Derivatives of models must not be sold on 3DModels-Textures or used in any manner inconsistent with the 3DModels-Textures End User License Agreement.
